Next week Synergy Gallery presents an exciting exhibition by Marcus Encel of photography celebrating the spirit of Cuba and a fascinating revelation at the local culture.

These images are environmental portraits of Cuban people - from Priestesses of the Santeria (a Vodou like religion) surrounded by her spiritual items, including dolls and glasses of water - to the caring boxing coach named The Professor in the run down gym facilities. These are tributes to the colourful development of culture when transplanted from one place to another, and a celebration of the spirit of Cuba in the face of such powerful cultural imperialism from America.
The exhibition runs from 28 April - 8 May and opens on the Thursday 28 at 7pm.
